Carpathian Days of Neighborhood

Since the meeting on a mountain pass in the Bieszczady Mountains, where the border between Poland and Ukraine runs, the Carpathian Days of Neighborhood have begun. The co-organizer of the event, which took place on September 14-15, was the Cross-Border Cooperation Programme POLAND-BELARUS-UKRAINE 2014-2020.

On the Polish side, the main part of the ceremony took place in Lutowiska, in which participated the Undersecretary of State in the Ministry of Investment and Development/MA Adam Hamryszczak, the Director of the Department of Territorial Cooperation in the ministry Rafał Baliński, the Director of the Center of European Projects Leszek Buller, authorities of the Podkarpackie (PL) and Zakarpattya (UA) regions, diplomats, parliamentarians as well as local government, border institutions and services representatives.

During the discussion panel, Minister Adam Hamryszak spoke, among others, about the potential of the PL-BY-UA Program: - Even if the funds of the Programme were 4-5 times higher, we might not meet the expectations of all the applicants who have prepared really great and interesting projects in many areas. And we want to continue with this cooperation.

After a presentation of the achievements of the Programme and the principles of the 2nd call for proposals, the ceremony of signing the grant contract for the project "SOS - rescue – the Training Center of Organizing and Operating Cross-Border Rescue Actions" took place. The project will be implemented by the "SOS - rescue" Foundation, Mountain Volunteer Search and Rescue - Bieszczady Group, the Commune of Ustrzyki Dolne and the Lviv Regional Control and Rescue Service of Tourist-Sports Association of Ukraine.

On the second day, during the event organized at the very border, the grant contract for the project "Reducing of the risk of tuberculosis epidemic  in the border areas of Ukraine and Poland through the construction of a tuberculous hospital with 100 beds in the Zakarpacki oblast and the introduction of innovative methods of tuberculosis monitoring, prevention and treatment” was signed. It will be implemented by the Department of Health in the Zakarpattya Oblast Administration and the Podkarpackie Center for Lung Diseases in Rzeszów.

The honorary patron of the event was the Marshal of the Sejm of Poland, Marek Kuchciński.
