The youth of the cross-border region participated in the Open Day for Young People organized by us under the European Cooperation Day 2019 in Brest. The event took place on 28th of September in the building of an International Volunteer Centre built within one of our PBU 2004-2006 projects.
At the beginning, the youth aged 15-23 years, could learn about the EC Day traditions, Poland-Belarus-Ukraine Programme and its projects particularly addressed at young generations. After that, the participants visited an Interactive Museum of Historical Development of the Fire Service of Brest Region (created within the PBU project 2007-2013). They learned a lot about the history of the Fire Service and rules of safe behaviour in case of a fire.
Following that, inspired by the PBU project stories, young people created 9 pictures on the topic ‘Europe is You’. The organizers provided everyone with easels, paints, brushes, pencils, and paper. The drawing process lasted 1.5 hours, the participants used various painting techniques (please see the photo gallery below). The young people also actively took part in communication and entertainment activities prepared specially for them: games to get acquainted, a quiz on knowledge of the facts about the EU, communication about the role of Europe, possibilities for youth to take part in the CBC Programme Poland-Belarus-Ukraine. In addition, the firefighters demonstrated the rescue cars, special fire-fighting equipment and how to provide the first aid to the injured.
The most active participants of the event got special ECDay and Programme prizes.
