Project description

Do you think you know the history of the place you live? How about the history dating back to the early Middle Ages, when the tribes of Goths inhabited the areas of today’s Poland and Ukraine? Although the relics of the Gothic period on these lands have been discovered in many places, the research on these Germanic tribes is insufficient and the general audience is almost unfamiliar with these pages of the history. The outdated infrastructure of local museums can hardly raise the interest in this subject among the laypeople.

The GothicWay project team is convinced that researching and promoting the common past is something that can connect our nations, especially if this concerns pan-European aspects of it, "Gothic" being one of the most important concepts in European culture. The project activities will be focused on the two museums Gothic Village in Masłomęcz  and Volodymyr-Volynskyi Historical Museum. These places are going to become real touristic magnets thanks to the renovation and creation of innovative products such as interactive touch panels, virtual 3D models of people and objects, 3D map of Gothic Settlement. To make a journey to the past even more realistic, multimedia animated films: "Gothic Life" and “Magic Gothic Tale” will be produced. The project will be promoted through the info-film and a series of articles in the media. This approach will allow attracting different categories of visitors, including adults and children, local people, and tourists. It will be also accessible by disabled visitors.

A unique combination of museum expositions and multimedia technologies will greatly enhance the touristic attractiveness of museums and boost their attendance. This will lead to the development of cross-border tourism and mutual intercultural communication.
