Project description

Nowadays, you can easily get your pizza and burger almost in every place in the world. At the same time, recent trends show a revived interest in traditional recipes and products. TV shows, culinary workshops, trainings on nutrition and other related events support this trend. On the other hand, some aspects of local culinary heritage remain unknown and neglected. This is the case of Rivne and Lublin, cities with unique culinary traditions, which are not sufficiently promoted.

The MATSYK project will enhance the cultural identity of both cities promoting them through preserving and popularizing their traditional culinary heritage. "Matsyk" is an authentic example of typical for Rivne meat dish, non-existing in other regions of Ukraine or Poland. Within the project, a short film will be created about this dainty, telling about its history, origins and ways to prepare it. The film will draw attention to regional cooking during the local events and will be broadcasted in mass and social media. Another promotional tool will be a cookbook with recipes of traditional Rivne cuisine (in Ukrainian, Polish, English and even Braille languages!). The international gastronomic conference in Lublin will gather HoReCa representatives and other professionals, while the Gastronomic Festival "Matsyk" in Rivne will invite citizens and visitors to taste local dishes prepared by professional chefs. Other project activities include creation of the Association for cooperation in the field of gastronomic tourism and two Cooperation and Marketing Strategies, as well as broad online promotion tools (websites, social media) and cooperation with bloggers/influencers.

The strategies provided within the MATSYK project will indicate the right direction for the promotion of regional cuisine, which will be continued in the following years. By introducing new opportunities for tourism development, cities Rivne and Lublin will improve their image in the border area of Poland and Ukraine.
