Project description

With the outbreak of war, Ukraine faced the challenge of rebuilding logistics in the shortest possible time to ensure uninterrupted delivery of all assistance, including international humanitarian aid to meet the needs of Ukraine's economy and critical infrastructure. Every day, Ukraine's transportation infrastructure suffers losses due to Russia's attack. The rail as a key lifesaving link for Ukrainians and the main carrier of goods is one of the aggressor's targets. The project ReachStacker4UA responds to the needs reported by Ukraine for support of its transport infrastructure and ensure the smooth flow of all incoming aid.

The key activity in the project was to purchase of a reach stacker vehicle for loading and unloading aid to Ukraine transported by rail. The vehicle purchased under the project was transferred to the Joint Stock Company “Ukrainian railways”. The equipment is now used by the “Ukrainian Railways” to load and unload cargo both in Ukraine and Poland.

The inhabitants of Ukraine are benefitting from the project implementation as it helped to improve the flow of aid to Ukraine. The project also contributes to development of the cross-border transport system in the long-term perspective.
