Project of the week - RDW812

26 / 04 / 2019
Category: Project News

„Extension of the voivodeship road No. 812 on the section Korolówka - Włodawa”, acronym RDW812, is a Large Infrastructure Project implemented under the Thematic Objective Accessibility. The lead beneficiary is Lubelskie Voivodeship (PL, represented in the project by the Regional Road Administration in Lublin), and the project partner is Volyn Regional State Administration (UA).

The eastern part of the Lubelskie Voivodeship is characterized by a low-quality transport network and infrastructure. Voivodeship road No. 812 is one of the roads displaying the highest traffic intensity in the Lubelskie Voivodeship with an average daily traffic in the Włodawa area reaching 5727 vehicles and is also characterized by an increasing number of accidents. One of the consequences of this situation is a limited access to this region for both – citizens and tourists from Poland and Ukraine. Improving the safety and quality of transport network users in the area of the Lubelskie Voivodeship is a joint challenge to be faced by the project partners. You can find basic information about the joint cooperation within the project in a pdf file below.

The Project activities will have a positive effect on transport system of the Lubelskie Voivodeship by ensuring faster and more convenient access to tourist areas located on both sides of the Polish-Ukrainian border, i.e. the Łęczyńsko - Włodawski Lake District on the Polish side, and the Shatsky National Park on the Ukrainian. This will contribute to international tourism development and the development of transport services in both countries.

The RDW812 project started on 10th October 2018. Following the respective tender procedures on 14th March the lead beneficiary has signed the major contract for construction works in the project. In the meantime, during the study visit to Poland, the representatives of Ukrainian partner analysed the current condition of the road No. 812 and respective technical documentation for the planned works.

On 1st April, the building site was officially handed over to the subcontractor. According to the grant contract, the RDW812 project should be completed by 9th October 2020.
