Programme at the Forum of Cities and Regions

Poland-Belarus-Ukraine cross-border cooperation projects were showcased during Forum of Cities and Regions held in Rzeszów - Jasionka on 4-6th June 2019. “Investing in Western Balkans – Investing in Europe” standed for motto of the Forum and its main goal was to share experiences from the EU accession process and cross-border cooperation  to support the Western Balkans in the process of European integration and economic transformation. During the two-day event the organizers: Ministry of Investment and Economic Development in cooperation with Marshal Office of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship run a number of meetings, presentations and discussion panels. A lot of attention was focused on beneficiaries’ zone where results of the EU funded cross-border cooperation projects were presented.

The participants had the opportunity to meet the three PL-BY-UA projects: “Shtetl Routes. Vestiges of Jewish cultural heritage in transborder tourism”,“Creative Centres for Science and Technology in Suwałki and Hrodna” and finally “SOS-rescue - the training center for organizing and operating cross-border rescue action”. The project beneficiaries came with unique exhibitions, thrilling shows and cutting edge educational activities. The SOS - rescue Foundation - a mountain rescue project made a real show while the rescue dog Chilli definitely did not have to put on, she was the star of the event!

During the session on experiences of partnership cooperation, Marek Duda, Director of Rzeszów Regional Development Agency and Ivan Kulchytskyy, President of Agency of European Innovations (Ukraine) shared their experiences from implementing “FARADAY - Building of permanent mechanisms for cross-border cooperation in the field of RES” project.

Jerzy Kwieciński, the Minister of Investment and Economic Development - acknowledged the achievements of the cross-border cooperation underlining during his speech at the opening session that ”After years of implementing cross-border cooperation programmes we can undoubtedly say that the contribution they have made to institutional cooperation and people-to-people relations can not be overestimated”.
